Philadelphia Eagles safety Reed Blankenship is taking an important step in his personal life as he prepares for what will be his third season in the NFL.
Per an announcement on social media, Blankenship, 25, proposed to his wife, Elsa, ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
The Eagles Nation X (Twitter) account helped spread the news on Thursday.
In 25 games and 19 starts over the past two seasons, Blankenship has posted 147 total tackles, one fumble recovery, one quarterback hit, 13 passes defended and four interceptions.
Last season, Blankenship received position-leading votes for the Pro Bowl when the first release came out in early December, though he ended up not making it in the end. It’s possible the Eagles’ late-season likely contributed to him missing out on Pro Bowl honors.
Regardless, both he and the Philly secondary will look to turn things around this season. The Eagles drafted cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean while also bringing back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
